December Greeblepix Contest Entry

Peace Star 6

I took 36 pictures of this ornament, something I'd been planning for 3 or 4 days. Or at least thinking about it, how to set it up etc. I really wanted some nice bokeh and a warm light. I edited 6 of them, and finally decided this was the best mix of all that was desired.

And, I love this ornament. Everyone in the family gets a similar one this year, but this is my fave. I like what it says.

Anyway, this is my Greeblepix entry for this month. Go visit Aimee at Greeblemonkey and look at everyone elses entries, there are always amazing photos!

Baking With Monstergirlee (Thanksgiving Prep)

Today I baked Banana Bread, Pecan Pie and tried a new technique on my turkey, I went with a Dry Brine. Basically you salt the turkey and let it sit for 3 days. Supposed to be good.

And the Turkey, kind of an unappetizing picture but since it was part of the days food prep, here it it. The salt too.

The Thinker

I had a burst of photo inspiration this evening. Maybe it was the sun streaming in my wondows at 6:30 in the evening (always a good thing), maybe it was the flowers I bought last week are going to be dead in a few days, not sure but I took 86 photos in less than half an hour. Some color, some black and white, things, flowers, girl, and ME which I never do, I've neve set out to do a self-portrait but I decided a week ago or so I wanted a photo taken specifically for an avatar that shows that I my camera is a big part of my life.

So - what do you think of my new profile photo? I used the same one on twitter.

Oh, and Herself took several photos too. Fun!

The Eyes Have It

This picture turned out a little strange. Only work I did on it was convert to B/W - the color was a little too pale but that brought out a little more contrast. Love the freckles. Oh, and I love that you he doesn't have any boogers in his nose. hee-hee

My Old Minolta

I took a bunch of pictures of my old camera gear to sell on ebay - most of which did go (tho I screwed up the shipping charges and barely broke even) but I kind of really like this photo.

Day to Read January 8th!- a Book, Not a Blog (and a daily photo of course)

I was looking for a bookish type photo for this post, and remembered one I had taken when I very first got my new camera, of the bookshelf in the living room. Except... turns out its mostly movies. At least there are some good ones.
Read a book, or a magazine, or a newspaper, tomorrow! No computers, no blogs, nothing electronic - go to Soccer Mom In Denial's page and read all about it, then turn off your computer for Day To Read 2009.
I am going to have withdrawl tomorrow! Ok, so my book of choice will be probably two books - "Memoirs of Hecate County" by Edmund Wilson, and 50/50 by Dean Karnazes. Need some Dean to inspire me to continue my N Y Resolutions.

Christmas Present

What's an Christmas morning without Irish Coffee? Made with the finest Irish Whiskey - Tullemore Dew. mmm.... yeah, Irish Coffee and Pannetone make for an excellent way to start the day.
And we've never had a Noble Fir before - I'm not 100% sold on having another one, but they are interesting looking, very stylized, but tough to get lights on looking decent.
Hope you enjoy this Christmas present. I'm trying to think of a way to do Christmas Future but haven't come up with it yet.
