Cala Lilies

In my neighbors yard actually. The hard freeze we had a couple of years ago really damaged the ones in my yard so I just mow over them now.

Its a Dreary Downtown Day

Actually this it outside downtown, but you are sort of looking at downtown across Commencement Bay. I loved that tree.

Little White Flower Cluster

Very photogenic little flowers. I like the faint trace of a spider web too.

Artsy-Fartsy

Distorted, weird, off-kilter. I love it. I'm trying some new techniques suggested by a wonderful blog "Dutch Blitz". Every Friday- she does "photo friday" where she gives great tips, and she's an amazing photographer. Check it out. Her site is in my blog list.

Wet Thor

hmm... you'd think after all these years I'd know that Thor likes the sprinkler - but this is the first time. He sat and got sprinkled for over 10 minutes before I sent him to the side yard. What a goof. He would have hung out all day.

Star Rose

The rose itself is kind of beat up - but I love the way the leaves at the base form almost a perfect star.

Cool Photo for A Hot Summer Day

Taken a couple years ago post Christmas. Thought it might send cooling thoughts to those of you under the influence of a hot sun. Its currently 68 degrees and overcast here in the fabulous Pacific Northwest.

Technically not a great picture, but I like the mood it conveys. Next time I'll use a tripod. I like how you can see the snow falling - very faintly.

Bridge Up

Went to a Memorial today for my friend Pat. Incredibly sad. So much emotion. But a good celebration of his life. I'll miss you Packy.

Himself

Not sure if I like the color on this. The original was pretty dark, and I'm not very good at using my photo software, I need to spend some time playing with it.
However, this is my wonderful son, being wonderful. Making me smile.

A Wing-ed Horse...

I can't remember the gas stations that had this as their symbol - but I remember the big sign, and thinking they were cool.

More Yellow Flowers

I like yellow flowers. Alot. But I don't think I own one single article of clothing in yellow. Nor any accessories.

Ocean Detritus

I don't even know what it means, it may fit this application, it may not, I'm probably spelling it wrong too, who fucking cares.

Happy Birthday Mom!

My Mom is so awesome. I hope to aspire to be as great a Mom to my kids, as she was to me, my sister, and brother. She rocks. So many everyday aspects of my life, I learned and value because of her. She's always been so Go-For-It, whether it was a saturday morning hike or collecting aluminum cans so we could buy a canoe, she is awesome. I am truly blessed.
Thank you Mom! I love you!

Faster Than a Speeding Comet!

Yeah, probably not. I love 60's cars. This one is parked around the corner from my house, usually outside. I took some pictures in the driveway but this one turned out better I think.

Big Project - Day 3 of Photos

In fence building mode. For how would one contain ones children without a fence? Ah, a nice fence designed by Hubby, he's pretty much the Superman of Fence Superintendents.

Here is Himself, hard at work, and he really was doing work, well. I was very proud of him.

The Big Project

These shots gives you a pretty good look at how overgrown our backyard was. Those hedges and lilac bushes are like... 20 feet tall! Whoa. I mean, I like lilacs but really, I wanted a backyard the kids could hang out in and play in and bar-b-que and lounge in and I could say "Go outside kid, you're bothering me" (J/k on that one but YOU know what I mean.) And so, in May of 2006 we started our Big Project. Hubby hired a teenageer to take down most of the foliage - tho we did end up having a professional come in and remove the last of those lilacs. Quite beautiful they were, a really nice deep purple. But I can plant more if I want.

Anyway, this is the beginning. Stay tuned for further installments of... The Big Project.
One last note, these are not very good photos, however I did want to share how excited I am every day, to have a wonderful backyard. Stay tuned.

Next Set Of Photos

Are too big to be contained in three little days of photos.
Watch this space for an exciting series documenting ..... something really big! Really exciting! Something that has transformed our family! And I'll send you $5 if you can guess in the next 24 hours, what it is.

Hydrangea - Day 2

And they come in so many beautiful colors. Oddly enough, I rarely see white ones like I grew up with.

Hydrangea - Day 1

Growing up, there was a bush in our front yard and it had these big flat mostly round leaves - we'd use them all summer for fans and make clothes and playing everything. We even called it the fan bush. The white flowers never really entered my kid-ly consciousness unless it was to grab a bundle and beat each other with them until they fell completely apart. Imagine my surprise when years later I found out they were "Hydrangeas". I had always thought that was some exotic plant that you saw at garden shows or in Better Homes & Gardens magazine. They're all over the place out here in the Northwest. And very photogenic I might add. Thanks for looking.
