Middle of the Road

Rough day at work today. Having many issues on many levels. Makes things tough. It'll get better tho.
A dear friend gave me this little about 8" tall tripod. Its quite heavy duty, very solid, fits in my camera case - used it for this photo. Its really nice to have it be so portable, and such a real piece of equipment.

Green-E (with a little photo editing - poorly)

Yup, you can totally see it. I'll try again another time. There was this woman in the background ruining an otherwise perfect shot (uh-huh) so I got rid of da bitch. ha-ha oh I crack myself up.
Oh, and this shot reminds me of Wall-E, so I called it Green-E instead.

A Yellow Rose and An Opinion

Oh, I remember the weird cropping was to get rid of something else stupid in the picture.

Anyway, I was sad that Mickey Rourke did not win best Actor Oscar tonight, not that I'm a big fan but man, that movie - The Wrestler - is just seared into my brain. I was trying to tell Hubby why I thought he did such a good job, and I realized it was because it didn't seem like he was acting, it was like watching someone live their life.

I am however a HUGE Sean Penn fan (so glad he went back with his wife) and so as long as Br*d P*tt didn't get it, I'm happy with it.

A Sunflower By Any Other Name & Entering A Contest

Would still smell... actually they don't seem to have a scent that I remember.

So Auds over at Barking Mad is having a contest to win a $250 Target gift card (Target is my Most Favorite Store Ever, really it is). I have to list and link my 5 favorite posts.

It was kind of tough - most of my posts are just individual photos with little or no narrative, so here are 5 of my faves.

The colors are so vivid - I can almost feel the sun on my face as I'm taking this picture.

Here Comes The Sun (Flower)

I think I need more summery images. The days are getting longer and I can feel it coming.... in another 6 months or so.

Red Berries - or more likely seeds. But they are pretty....

And rather photogenic I think.
As promised, another photo for today.

Greeblepix Entry!

Hope you enjoy this months entry! Go check out the other enties here.

This photo is from my January Photo Safari with Himself. That phrase has become common verbage around my house. Momma - when are you going on another photo safari - can I come? my son announced he wants to be a professional photographer when he grows up. He also wants to be a sculptor. My budding artist. (and yes this photo was a previous photo of the day - I'll post another original later)

Daisy Daisy......

I missed a post yesterday.
First Time Missing a Day Since I Started.
I had a really bad headache and just went to bed and never got up.

ah, title, you ask for a title. What if I don't have one yet.....

My kid is so awesome. He's grabbing lady bugs from his head. They were swarming all over this statue thing in the Park. And on his head too. Glad he wasn't freaking out about them.

Hanging Lanterns

Hanging in my parent's garage.

I think I recognize one as a gift I gave him many years ago.

Murray Morgan Bridge

Himself was so excited to be out walking in the middle of the street - he kept asking me Momma, are you sure its OK to be out here in the street?

Hole in the Wall

The stucco is so old up you can see the CMU lines under it. Love the rebar in the window.

Happy Smiling Girl & A Movie Review (huh? didn't expect that did you?)

One year ago. Herself. She hates hates hates having me pour water on her head when we wash hair. But she gets over it pretty quickly.

So, I saw The Wrestler last night. Still haven't decided if I liked it or not. Anyone else seen it?
My impressions are all one word at a time:
Gritty.
Intense.
Relentless.
Uncomfortable.
I've never care much for Mickey Rourke, but man he is intense in this movie.

And a Photo - just for you...

I am of course, referring to Lakewood Cemetery.

btw - Happy Birthday to Me! 43. Big Whoop.

Spending the day cleaning and organizing and doing laundry. Which is actually a good thing because I rarely have time to get it done. A cleaner house will make me happier for weeks to come.
So anyway. Going out for dinner tonight and a Movie - the Wrestler is supposed to be good.

Stop back for today's Photo of the Day.

Canoe Canoe?

Reminds me of my best girl friend in high school, Bridget. My Dad made us a cart and we'd walk our canoe down to Lake Harriet and go canoeing, we'd lay out in the sun and stuff. It was really a ton of fun. People used to look at us funny "walking the canoe".

Girl on a Basketball Court

You've seen other pictures from this series, the black and white ones are the best.

Been a rough week at our house. Hubby just found out he's got Walking Pneumonia - and was off two days last week. Himself is just getting over pink eye (with which I had to take 1 1/2 days off work) then this evening when he got home from school he had 104 degree temp. It did come down with Tylenol, so thats something. I'm so thankful I'm healthy so I can take care of everyone else. Except the now we're both scared to take more time off work because honestly, we're worried that too much time off means unreliable and Expendable. F*ck! Its so frustrating.

So I guess I'll just have a beer, watch The Office, maybe an episode or two of Seinfeld, and go to bed. Hopefully things will look better or healthier in the morning.

Taken with ambient light - love the green apple.

My First Hydrangea

This is the way I really like to shoot photos. This photo is SOOC (straight out of the camera) - no cropping, no color correction, I didn't mess with the contrast, just resized it from 3.6MB to 228KB so it would load easier. Of course my "photo editing" consists of MS Picture Editor which is kind of a joke - but suits me just fine.

This is a Hydrangea in front of my parents house. I spoke of them HERE. And here it is all dead and cool looking in the late afternoon winter light. This seems to be a different variety than the ones here on the West Coast.

It was waaazy to cold to actually stop and take a photo, this is from a speeding mini-van.

Hanging Musical Thing

From the St Paul Science Museum - it uses the movement of the earth to play music. It sounds pretty random, but it is musical.
