California Poppy

This is such a beautiful shade of yellow. I'm glad my camera picked it up so well.

Beautiful--I love these flowers. I picked a few to press while on a May motorcycle ride in California, then someone informed me that they were the California state flower and thus illegal to pick.

That puts me two-for-two, since I shot a Garibaldi when I was 19 without knowing it was the California state marine fish. Super-illegal.

I checked the list of California state symbols to see if I posed a legitimate danger to anything else, but I think the grizzly bears and gray whales are safe from me.
